Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation and the Security Service of Ukraine detained law enforcement officers and an official of the territorial recruitment center in Odesa region on suspicion of receiving money from those wishing to evade military service.

This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.

According to the investigation, the father and son, employees of one of the law enforcement agencies in Izmail, offered their clients to exclude them from the search and military registration databases. The price of the service was USD 7 thousand.

After receiving the money, the criminals passed the personal data and photographs of the men to an accomplice from the TCC. The latter entered false information into the databases, in particular, about the allegedly established unfitness for service by the decision of the military medical commission.

The offenders were detained on July 3, 2025, while receiving another part of the bribe. All three have now been served a notice of suspicion of receiving an undue advantage by an official (Article 368(3) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The court imposed a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention for a period of 60 days with the possibility of bail in the amount of UAH 1.5 to 2 million.

Earlier, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, based on the materials of the State Bureau of Investigation, filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court to recognize as unjustified the assets of one of the heads of the territorial center for recruitment and social support in Odesa region totaling more than UAH 1.9 million.

Meanwhile, on June 19, a panel of judges of the Kyiv Court of Appeal increased the bail for the former head of the Odesa Regional Territorial Center for Manning and Social Support, Yevhen Borysov, to UAH 45.4 million. On July 22, 2023, the former Odesa military commissar was served with a notice of suspicion on three articles - illegal enrichment, unauthorized leaving of the place of service, and evasion from service. These sanctions provide for up to 10 years in prison in case of conviction.
