Last year, there were five times more marriages than divorces in Odesa region

In 2025, 8,892 marriages were concluded in Odesa Oblast, 4,145 in Mykolaiv Oblast, and 423 in the government-controlled territory of Kherson Oblast.

This was reported by the Odesa Interregional Department of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

At the same time, the number of divorces has decreased compared to the previous year, 2024. In Odesa region, this figure is 1,818 (2,329 in 2024), in Mykolaiv region - 794 (970), in Kherson region - 85 (114).

In general, according to the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, Ukrainians have become somewhat more likely to marry and less likely to divorce. The number of new families created over the past year was 165,587, which is six times more than the number of divorced couples, 26,282.

In addition, in 2025, Odesa region was ahead of Mykolaiv and Kherson regions in terms of both the number of newborns and the number of deaths.

Last year, 11,956 people were born in Odesa region, and 31,267 died. In Mykolaiv region, 4,365 people were born and 16,000 died, and in Kherson region, 366 people were born and 4,367 died.

Odesa region ranked fifth in Ukraine by the number of births and sixth by the number of deaths.

In addition, the number of proceedings on wage arrears in 2025 in Odesa region reached 530. In Mykolaiv region, there were 33 such proceedings last year, and none in Kherson region. For comparison, 437 proceedings for non-payment of wages were registered in Kyiv, and 73 in Kyiv Oblast. Mostly, private companies are withholding money: 62% of all debts in 2025. Another quarter of cases involve utility companies and more than 13% involve state-owned companies. The most common types of companies involved are limited liability companies, municipal and joint-stock companies.
