Land sublease auctions start in Mykolaiv region

The first auctions for the sublease of state-owned land plots under theLand Bank project will begin in Mykolaiv region on November 26.

According to Suspilne.Mykolaiv, five auctions will be held on that day. The lots will be plots ranging from 23 to 1186 hectares. In total, as of November 23, 16 auctions for the sublease of state agricultural land with a total area of more than five thousand hectares have already been announced in the region. In the first pool in Mykolaiv region, 142 land plots with a total area of about 20 thousand hectares will be put up for auction, the report says.

"Ukrainian agrarians play a key role in ensuring our food security and supporting the domestic economy. In general, auctions of sublease of state agricultural land in Mykolaiv region are an opportunity to restore the agricultural potential of the region," the media quoted Igor Tymoshenko, deputy head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine, as saying.

According to Suspilne, in November and December 2024, the auction participants will be offered plots ranging from 4.5 hectares to more than one thousand. According to the fund, agricultural entrepreneurs will have a large selection of land for their own needs. In addition, four more auctions will be held on November 29, with the next ones scheduled for December 16 and 20. The term of the sublease itself is 14 years. The designated purpose of most of the land is "For commercial agricultural production". All auctions are available on the Prozorro.Sale website .

"These lands are available to farmers through open, fair and competitive bidding. They are offered for long-term sublease on favorable terms. So this is a situation where each party wins," Yaroslav Yaroslavsky, CEO of the State Land Bank, told Suspilne.

According to Yaroslavsky, farmers can realize their potential, develop their business, create jobs, and open new areas thanks to access to state land. Meanwhile, the state will receive money for the budget and will be able to "bring thousands of hectares of land out of the shadows."
