The Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office has convicted a 47-year-old resident of Skadovsk, Kherson region, under public prosecution. The man is accused of treason and collaboration.

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

The traitor was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. In particular, he was banned from holding positions in state and local government for a period of 15 years.

Prosecutors proved in court that the defendant had voluntarily cooperated with the occupation administration of the Russian Federation since August 2022 and took an illegal leadership position of 'Deputy Head of the Skadovsk Military-Civilian Administration of Kherson Region'.

In particular, it was found that the citizen of Ukraine ensured the functioning of this illegal authority and through it implemented the invader's policy, as well as supported and disseminated Russian propaganda narratives.

It is reported that by his actions the collaborator assisted representatives of the Russian Federation in conducting subversive activities against Ukraine and contributed to the strengthening of the occupation of his own settlement.

The special pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was conducted by investigators of the SBU Office in Cherkasy region under the supervision of prosecutors of the regional prosecutor's office. The verdict comes into force after 30 days from the date of its announcement, unless the parties file an appeal.

Earlier, the Khadzhibeysky District Court of Odesa sentenced 48-year-old Halyna Rayko to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property in absentia. The former candidate of technical sciences and head of a department at Kherson National Technical University (KNTU) was found guilty of aiding the enemy and collaboration.

According to the court's verdict, in July 2022, Raiko voluntarily headed the 'Kherson Technical University' illegally created by the occupiers. Witnesses said that in this position, she personally persuaded her colleagues to remain working for the Russian authorities, gave interviews to propagandists, fired those who disagreed, and even held an illegal referendum in September 2022 under military protection.

The court sentenced her to 12 years in prison, confiscation of all her property, and deprivation of the right to hold public office and engage in educational activities for 15 years. Since the sentence was passed in absentia, the convicted person will start serving it after her actual arrest.
