Following a public prosecution by prosecutors of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, the court found a resident of the region guilty of collaboration.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The court sentenced him in absentia to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property. In addition, he was deprived of the right to hold any positions related to the performance of organizational, administrative and economic functions in public authorities, public administration, local self-government or bodies providing public services for a period of 15 years.

The prosecutor proved that in 2024, the convict voluntarily took the pseudo-position of the 'head of the Aleshky municipal district of Kherson region', created by a decision of the illegal 'council of deputies of Aleshky'.

While in this position, he exercised general management of the illegal occupation body, namely: formed the staff, appointed subordinates, coordinated their activities, and publicly supported the aggressor state and its proxies in the temporarily occupied territory. Since the verdict was passed in absentia and the convict is hiding from Ukrainian justice,

his sentence will be counted from the moment of his actual detention. The appeal period is currently underway. The special pre-trial investigation was conducted by the SBU Office in Kherson region.

Earlier, the Prosecutor's Office of Kherson region served a notice of suspicion to the former lieutenant of the internal service, an ex-executive, of high treason and voluntary holding a position in an illegal law enforcement agency (Part 2 of Article 111, Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that the 36-year-old suspect, who at the time of the occupation of Kherson was an active employee of the Ukrainian Penitentiary Service, voluntarily cooperated with the enemy at the end of May 2022.
