As of September 1, 2025, the total amount of damage caused to the environment of Kherson region due to land contamination and pollution is over UAH 14.4 billion.

This was reported by the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southern District.

These losses were calculated based on the methods approved by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine. They took into account the contamination of the area by waste from the destruction, explosions, and contamination of the area with hazardous substances generated as a result of the hostilities.

The man illegally caught 891 specimens of river crayfish using lights at night. The size of the caught crayfish ranged from 6 to 13 centimeters. By his actions, the offender grossly violated the rules of recreational fishing.

In addition, an investigative team was called to the scene. They registered the incident in the URPTI and are now deciding whether to initiate criminal proceedings under Article 249 (1) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
