Starting April 1, the curfew in Kherson region will be extended from 21:00 to 05:00. This decision was made at a meeting of the Regional Defense Council.
According to Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the regional military administration, the reduction is due to the increase in daylight hours and security issues.
In addition, the meeting approved restrictions related to Easter and memorial days. In particular, it is forbidden to hold services during the curfew, to consecrate on the territory of religious buildings, and to visit cemeteries, except for funeral processions.
"This is a necessary step, so please treat it with understanding, because we must avoid mass gatherings of believers and protect them," the official said in a statement.
Changes were also made to the rules for the sale of alcoholic beverages. From now on, in the settlements of Bilozerka, Komyshany, Zymivnyk, Pryozerne and in the Korabel neighborhood in Kherson, it is allowed to sell alcohol in shops and catering establishments during certain hours - from 10:00 to 15:00.
The regional defense council emphasized that these changes are aimed at maintaining security in the region and maintaining public order.
Currently, the curfew in Kherson region lasts from 20:00 to 6:00.
On March 28-29, the Russian military attacked 36 settlements in the Kherson region, resulting in ten civilians being injured.
Despite the difficulties and constant shelling, about 25% of Kherson residents remained in the city, continuing to live and support each other. During the 2022 referendum, most people avoided voting for fear of persecution, and before the war, only 21% of residents had a positive attitude toward the Russian Federation.
