Yaroslav Shanko, the deputy head of Kherson Military Administration of Oleksandr Prokudin, will be in charge of the city's military administration.

This became known from the Decree of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, published on the website of the Presidential Office.

"To appoint Yaroslav Viktorovych Shanko as the head of the Kherson City Military Administration of the Kherson district of the Kherson region," the document says.

Subsequently, Shanko announced that he had taken up his duties.

"As of today, I am taking up my duties as the head of the Kherson MVA. I understand that there are many difficult tasks ahead. However, I guarantee decency, integrity, and openness. No loud words, but actions," he wrote.

In turn, Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the DIA, congratulated his former subordinate on his appointment.

"For two years of working in the same team, you have repeatedly proved your responsibility and professionalism," he added.

Yaroslav Shanko worked for many years in the Kherson police, heading the juvenile units. According to media reports, his career has always depended on the career of Oleksandr Pokudin. And even after moving from Kherson to Kyiv in 2021, Pokudin took Shank with him. There, Yaroslav served as deputy head of the Juvenile Prevention Department of the National Police of Ukraine. At the time, Prokudin himself was the acting head of the Department for Supporting the Activities of the Head of the National Police of Ukraine.

The previous head of the Kherson MVA, Roman Mrochko, who had been heading the administration since March 2023, was dismissed by the President in April 2025. Prior to that, he had extensive experience in the military prosecutor's office and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In August 2022, he voluntarily joined the army, and even earlier, in February of the same year, after the start of the full-scale invasion, he took up the position of head of the internal investigation team at the Vinnytsia Zonal Department of the Military Law Enforcement Service.
