Kherson journalist receives state award for courage and professionalism

The Kherson correspondent received an award for her courage and contribution to the development of Ukrainian journalism during the war. She continues to work in Kherson, covering events under martial law.

The relevant decree was signed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has awarded Daria Litovchenko, a correspondent for the FREEdom TV channel from Kherson, with the Order of Merit III degree.

This is reported in the decree of the head of state.

The award was given to her for her significant personal contribution to the development of Ukrainian journalism and the information sphere, as well as for the courage and dedication shown during the coverage of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and for many years of conscientious work.

Before the outbreak of the full-scale war, she lived and worked in Sloviansk in the media. Since 2022, she has been living and working in Kherson.

According to the resource Dim, Daria Lytovchenko , a military correspondent for the state foreign-language TV channel FREEDOM, has been covering events in frontline Kherson since October 2022. She was one of the first journalists to arrive in the liberated city, documenting the crimes of the Russian occupiers.

In March, Crimean journalist and soldier Pavlo Kazarin won the Taras Shevchenko National Prize in the category of journalism. The presidential decree states that the award was given for the project "Wartime Journalism on Ukrayinska Pravda," which analyzes Russia's war against Ukraine and its impact on society.

In January, journalist from Kherson Angela Slobodian, who was captured by the occupiers, was awarded a state scholarship. The relevant decree was signed by the President of Ukraine. Anzhela Slobodian was captured by the Russian military in the occupied Kherson in July 2022 and held there for 31 days.
