Kherson Regional Hospital has planned to purchase an armored ambulance so that doctors can work even under fire.

The corresponding tender was announced on the Prozorro platform on March 13.

According to the terms of the tender, the vehicle must comply with the PZSA-3 armor class, which protects medics and patients from bullets and debris. This is especially important under martial law, when doctors work in dangerous areas and need reliable transportation to save lives.

The purchase is being made by the Regional Territorial Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine, a municipal non-profit enterprise of the Kherson Regional Council. The expected cost of the vehicle is UAH 9.086 million.

The auction will take place on March 21 in the format of open bidding with special features that provide for reduced deadlines for submitting bids and appeals. The supplier must deliver the vehicle by June 12, 2025.

Funding is provided by the state as part of the support for medical institutions in the region, which has suffered significant damage as a result of the war. The armored ambulance will allow doctors to work even in frontline areas and safely transport seriously injured patients in critical conditions.

Intent has already written how an ambulance exploded near Novovorontsovka on explosives. The explosion damaged the wheel of the vehicle, but fortunately, the medics and the patient were not injured.

Since August last year, 23 ambulances and 140 police cars have been destroyed by Russian drone attacks on the right bank of the Kherson region.

This year, in February, Russian shelling killed 13 residents of Kherson, and another 113 people were injured of varying severity. In January 2025, 16 residents of Kherson were killed in enemy attacks, and another 154 were injured.
