In 2026, more than UAH 700 million will be allocated from the local budget to support the Kherson community's utilities.

According to Vgoru, this was announced during a press conference by Yaroslav Shanko, head of the Kherson City Military Administration.

According to him, most utility companies cannot cover their expenses on their own, so they need financial support from the budget. The allocated funds are planned to be used primarily to pay salaries to employees and to pay for energy.

Mr. Shanko also spoke about the problem of debts of utility companies. He noted that significant debts have accumulated for electricity, gas and heating.

In addition, more than UAH 1.5 billion is owed due to the difference in tariffs. These are the funds that enterprises did not receive because the established tariffs were lower than the actual cost of services.

The KMVA head also did not rule out that the amount of financial support for the utilities sector could increase due to further tariff increases, in particular for electricity.

As for debt write-offs, Shanko said this issue remains unresolved. Once the relevant procedure is approved, a special commission is planned to be set up to deal with such cases.

Recently, Intent wrote that about 63 thousand people live in Kherson today, which is 4.4 times less than at the beginning of 2022, when the city's population was more than 279 thousand people. In total, the number of residents decreased by about 216 thousand people.

In addition, the Kherson community is experiencing a critical shortage of personnel in almost all areas, most notably in healthcare and utilities. Medical facilities are only half staffed, and the workload on doctors is constantly growing.
