On March 9, residents of Kerch laid flowers at the monument to Ukrainian poet and artist Taras Shevchenko on the anniversary of his birthday.

According to Krym.Realii, the tradition of bringing flowers to the monument to Shevchenko in Kerch has been preserved all the years since the beginning of the Russian occupation of Crimea.

Mykolaiv also celebrated the 211th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko's birth by honoring his memory with a solemn event and laying flowers. The figure of Kobzar was called a symbol of the struggle for freedom, and his work - an integral part of Ukrainian identity.

Earlier, Crimean journalist and soldier Pavlo Kazarin won the Taras Shevchenko National Prize in the Publicistics nomination. The journalist received the award for his project "Wartime Journalism on Ukrayinska Pravda", which analyzes Russia's war against Ukraine, its impact on society, national identity, and the country's future.

In addition, historian Taras Honcharuk, together with local historian Taras Maksymiuk, spoke about some aspects of Shevchenko's connections with Odesa and his echoes in the city. This lecture, based on the article "Shevchenko's Odesa" written by Vasyl Barladianu-Berladnyk, reveals the events during which Taras Shevchenko visited Odesa, for what reasons, and with what friends. The life of Taras Shevchenko, who lived in Ukraine for only 15 years, still leaves room for discussion and discovery.
