In the Odesa region, hunting for the 2026–2027 season has been approved in seven districts. The decision is attributed to an increase in the population of wild animals, particularly foxes, wolves, jackals, and raccoon dogs, which may pose a threat to people, domestic animals, and agriculture.

This was announced by Oleg Kipper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration.

According to him, in recent years, the population of carnivorous predators in the Odesa region has grown by approximately 30%, while that of fur-bearing predators has increased by one and a half times.

The Odesa Regional Military Administration has received numerous reports from community residents about jackals appearing near residential buildings, recreational areas, and farmyards. There have also been reports of significant damage to crops caused by wild animals.

By a joint order of the Odesa Regional State Administration and the “Odesa” Operational-Tactical Group, hunting has been authorized in the Berezivka, Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, Odesa, Rozdilna, Izmail, Podil, and Bolhrad districts.

Oleg Kipper urged residents to comply with the safety requirements established for the period of martial law.

Earlier, Intent reported that 84 confirmedcases of rabies among animals had been recorded in the Odesa region. The number of animal bites on humans is also on the rise in the region.
