Italy has promised to focus its attention on rebuilding Odesa.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and the whole of Italy for their leadership in supporting our country and their willingness to take patronage over the restoration of Odesa. This was one of the key agreements at the large-scale international Conference on Ukraine's recovery.

The guarantor wrote about this in his TG channel.

"We appreciate Italy's readiness to take patronage over the restoration of Odesa," the President said, emphasizing the importance of this step for the city, which is regularly attacked and destroyed by the Russian army.

The President is confident that Ukraine and Italy have a common future.

The priority for Ukraine now is to strengthen its air defense and develop the production of drones, especially interceptors of enemy air targets.

Zelenskyy noted that Kyiv is interested in attracting Italian investment in these areas.

He emphasized that this not only protects the lives of Ukrainians, but also "will protect Italy later."

The parties continued to work on strengthening sanctions against the aggressor and accelerating Ukraine's European integration.

Also today, an agreement was signed between Odesa region and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. This will open up great opportunities for both parties. This cooperation will focus, among other things, on children's health improvement and support for educational institutions. Exchange of experience in the medical field, joint business projects and investments. Assistance to the population affected by the war, development of the agricultural sector: modernization of equipment and introduction of sustainable technologies in the agricultural sector.

Meanwhile, natural disasters should also be taken into account. For example, the threat of fires has increased in Odesa region with the warming weather.

Since the beginning of this year, fires have caused damage to the ecosystem worth UAH 23 billion.

This was the second fire in this national park in a year, as in July 2024, the burning of dry vegetation in the Lower Dniester National Nature Park "Whispering Floodplains" led to the release of 285 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. At that time, state inspectors calculated the damage to the air to be almost UAH 886 million.
