In Izmail, free meals will be provided to students in grades 1–11 at public general secondary schools during the new school year. The cost of meals for the children will remain at the previous year’s level.

The Executive Committee of the Izmail City Council adopted the corresponding resolution on August 7.

According to the document, in the 2026–2027 school year, the cost of meals per student per school day will be:

At the same time, meals for students in grades 1–11 at municipal general secondary schools will be provided free of charge. Previously, in January 2026, the Executive Committee of the Izmail City Council reviewed the cost of meals for schoolchildren. At that time, the rate was set at 90 hryvnias per day for elementary school students, and at 95 hryvnias for eligible students in grades 5–11 and students in the specialized sports class at Izmail Gymnasium No. 9.

Thus, the current rates have remained unchanged. These figures serve as the basis for school and gymnasium administrators to calculate the costs of providing meals. Specifically, educational institutions can use them to plan expenditures and procure meal services, including catering.

Starting September 1, 2026, all students in grades 1–11 (12) at public general secondary schools throughout Ukraine, whether attending in person or in a hybrid format, are to receive free hot meals. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted the corresponding decision. The program will cover approximately 3 million schoolchildren.

To ensure free single-serving meals for students from September through November 2026, the state will allocate an additional 7.4 billion hryvnias in subsidies to local budgets.
The funds are intended to enable communities to make the necessary purchases in advance and organize school meals.
