The Standing Committee of the Odesa City Council on Emergency Situations and Elimination of Their Consequences, Ecology and Digital Transformation considered submitting changes to the municipal program of public protection to the Odesa City Council.

According to the Center for Public Investigations, during a meeting of the commission on January 20, it was decided to hear the Department of Engineering Protection on this issue at the next meeting.

The changes include the allocation of 35 million hryvnias for the purchase of primary mobile shelters to be installed on the city's beaches before the start of the holiday season. We are talking about five to seven such shelters with a capacity of 50 to 100 people and a cost of five to seven million hryvnias each.

They are planned to be installed on the coast, and the exact number of locations will be determined based on the number of shelters to be purchased. The shelters will comply with the new state standard of Ukraine. First of all, we are talking about beaches that are in municipal ownership, and we will also negotiate with tenants to install such shelters on leased beaches. Such a shelter is currently installed on the inclusive beach at the 11th station of the Big Fountain. The list of locations is being developed by the Engineering Protection Department.

The shelters that the city council purchased last year and the year before for educational institutions are not suitable for the intended use because they do not have radiation protection, so they are now idle in warehouses. Also, these shelters are not suitable for installation anywhere else, because the State Emergency Service does not give its consent.

Earlier, the Center for Public Investigations investigated that the problem of the lack of shelters in Odesa - out of 3,696 necessary shelters and 124 mobile shelters, only 1,189 have been available in the city for almost four years of full-scale invasion.
