In the Odesa region, law enforcement officers detained a doctor who, according to investigators, issued false diagnoses and disability certifications in exchange for $8,000. The doctor has already been notified that he is suspected of abuse of influence.
This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa region.
The suspect was placed in pretrial detention with the option to post bail of nearly one million hryvnias. He faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.
According to the investigation, a doctor at one of the general hospitals in the Odesa region offered a conscript the opportunity to arrange for fictitious inpatient treatment in the surgery and neurology departments. To this end, he promised to arrange for the preparation of medical documents containing false diagnoses, which were intended to confirm the presence of medical conditions.
Later, based on these documents, the man was to receive a disability classification and, subsequently, secure his removal from military registration on health grounds.

According to the case file, to carry out this scheme, the doctor promised to influence the head of the hospital department, the chair of the expert team assessing the individual’s daily functioning, and the head of one of the district territorial centers for recruitment and social support.
Investigators documented several stages of the bribe being handed over to the doctor. The suspect received the funds in installments, demanding payment for a fake hospitalization, the forgery of X-ray images with fabricated diagnoses, and the issuance of laboratory results for tests the patient had not actually undergone.
