Scheduled hourly power outages have been implemented in the Mykolaiv region. Due to numerous Russian shelling attacks on power grid facilities, more than 232,000 customers in 443 settlements across the region will be left without power.
This was reported by Georgy Reshetilov, acting head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.
According to him, the restrictions were introduced by order of the National Electricity Company “Ukrenergo.” Starting at 7:30 a.m., power will be cut off for zones 1.2, 2.1, 3.1, 4.1, 4.2, and 5.1.
In total, 232,358 customers in 443 settlements will be without power.
The current outage schedule as of 6:30 a.m. has been published on the Mykolaivoblenergo website.
Previously, all water supply and sewage pumping stations in Mykolaiv were equipped with backup power. In the event of a power outage, the company plans to switch the facilities to generators within 30 minutes to maintain water supply and wastewater disposal.
In the event of a complete shutdown of the city’s centralized water supply, plans are in place to distribute treated water via electric vehicles and operate distribution points. In total, there are 219 such distribution points in Mykolaiv, of which 214 are currently operational. Eighty-nine of these points are equipped with generators.
A blackout is a large-scale systemic failure in the power grid, during which a significant area (a city, region, or an entire country) experiences a complete or near-complete loss of power due to a loss of control over the grid.
