Nearly 76,000 children and young people are enrolled in 306 educational institutions in the Kherson region. More than 5,000 of them are currently attending in-person classes, while another 71,000 are studying remotely.
This was reported by Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional State Administration.
According to him, the number of children attending in-person classes has increased by nearly 1,000 compared to last year.
Prokudin noted that the increase in the number of students able to return to in-person learning was made possible by the construction of shelters in schools and the creation of safe spaces for relocated educational institutions.
In total, among the nearly 76,000 students, there are children who remain in the Kherson region, those who have been evacuated to safer regions of Ukraine or abroad, as well as those who are in temporarily occupied territories.
“We will continue to do everything we can to ensure that more and more children return to their desks,” said the head of the Kherson Regional State Administration.
Prokudin also thanked the teachers who continue to work and educate children despite the war.
Earlier, Oleksandr Tolokonnikov , deputy head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, stated that 14 underground schools are planned to open in the Kherson region during the 2026–2027 school year. Currently, 10 such educational institutions are operating in the region.
