In the Kherson region, the case involving the recovery of nearly 1.9 million hryvnias from the contractor responsible for the major renovation of a lyceum has been returned to the preliminary proceedings stage. The State Audit Service was brought in to investigate the dispute over the alleged overpricing of the work, as the cafeteria renovation project was funded by the European Union.
This is stated in a ruling by the Commercial Court of Odesa Oblast.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for November 12, 2026. The State Audit Service was asked to submit its response to the lawsuit by November 9.
The case concerns the performance of a contract dated August 2025 between the Darivka Village Council of the Kherson District and the “MAGISTRAL PLUS” consortium. The contractor carried out major repairs and modernization of the cafeteria at the Lymantsky Lyceum. However, according to the case file, the client discovered discrepancies between the work actually performed and that declared in the completion reports. In the plaintiff’s opinion, the company unjustifiably received 1,886,508.97 hryvnias.
During the proceedings, the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office filed a motion with the court to involve the Southern Regional Office of the State Audit Service in Kherson Oblast in the dispute and to return to the preparatory proceedings stage. The prosecutor emphasized that the facility was renovated using European funds and that the State Audit Service is the authorized body responsible for safeguarding the financial interests of the EU.
