In Odessa, a man took people hostage at a hair salon

Early this morning, July 8, a man barricaded himself inside a hair salon on Akademika Filatova Street in Odessa along with several other people. Police arrived at the scene.

According to Lyubov Gordievskaya, a spokesperson for the Odessa Regional Police, in a statement to Intent, two people are being held hostage.

A report that an unknown man had barricaded himself inside the barbershop with an employee and a customer was received by the 102 emergency hotline this morning.

Patrol police units, an investigative team from the local police department, and special forces were dispatched to the scene.

He did not make any threats against the people inside the building, but he refused to open the door.
Law enforcement officers subsequently opened the door.
