A portable charging station caused a fire in a high-rise building in Odesa, in which five people were injured. A child was among the injured.

This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service in the Odesa region.

Over the past 24 hours, rescue workers in the Odesa region responded to 56 calls, 44 of which were related to firefighting. Six fires broke out in the regional capital itself, and another 38 occurred in the region’s districts. In addition, firefighters responded 25 times to extinguish dry vegetation fires, which burned an area of about eight hectares.

One of the fires occurred on the night of July 2 in a high-rise residential building on Lyustdorfskaya Road in Odesa. The fire broke out in an apartment located on the 12th floor of the 23-story building. According to the State Emergency Service, the fire originated from household items, and the preliminary cause was identified as a portable charging station catching fire.

Five people, including one child, were injured in the fire. All of the victims were hospitalized.

Another fire broke out the previous day in the afternoon on Kosmonavtiv Street in Odesa. There, a short circuit caused by an overloaded electrical panel sparked a fire on the first floor of a high-rise building. Due to heavy smoke, rescue workers wore respiratory protection equipment and evacuated eight residents—including four children—from the upper floors.

The day before, two warehouses storing toilet paper and mineral fertilizers, as well as a wheat field, were damaged and caught fire after being struck by a ballistic missile.

At one of the warehouses, the fire was extinguished in its early stages over a small area, while the other warehouse suffered extensive damage, with the fire engulfing thousands of square meters. At the same time, efforts to save the harvest continued: rescue workers extinguished the wheat fire, thereby saving another 35 hectares of Ukrainian grain from destruction.
