In Mykolaiv, a gas station attendant was found guilty of murdering three coworkers

<span><span><span><span><span><span>In Mykolaiv, a former gas station employee who killed three coworkers on his last day of work was sentenced to life in prison. The man was also found guilty of illegal possession of weapons and ammunition.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>This is stated in the verdict of the Ingulsky District Court of Mykolaiv.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>According to the case file, the crime occurred on the man’s last day of work. He entered the manager’s office, where a cylinder filler, a mechanic, and another man who had previously worked at this gas station were present. </span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>He fired aimed shots at them with a homemade pistol he had prepared in advance, which had been converted from a gas-powered weapon. Afterward, he stabbed one of the victims in the neck at least three times with a knife. All three died at the scene from their injuries.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>In court, the defendant initially pleaded fully guilty, providing a detailed account of the sequence of events and his motives —insults and harassment from coworkers. However, over the course of five years of trial proceedings, he repeatedly changed his testimony, in particular denying that some of the seized weapons belonged to him. </span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>In 2026, the court found that he had abused his procedural rights in order to delay the case. A psychological and psychiatric evaluation found no mental disorders in the man that could have affected his awareness of his actions during the crime. </span></span></span></span></span></span>

The court found the man guilty of murder and illegal possession of weapons and sentenced him to life in prison. 

The court also ordered him to pay the four victims a total of 2 million hryvnias in compensation for emotional distress and over 62,000 hryvnias for funeral expenses. A portion of his property and funds was seized to be used, if necessary, to pay the compensation. The man will remain in custody until the verdict becomes final.
