In Mykolaiv Oblast, environmental inspectors found several greenhouses in the forest that had been built by a local resident. The areas near the production facilities were heavily littered with polyethylene and product residues. The offender was fined over UAH 11,000.

According to the press service of the State Ecological Inspectorate of the Southwestern District, following an appeal through the #EcoThreat electronic service, the fact of unauthorized occupation of a land plot of the state forest fund in the Buzka community of Voznesensk district was revealed.

A local resident illegally set up a greenhouse production facility on this territory, using an area of 0.1216 hectares, which violates environmental legislation.

The violator was brought to administrative responsibility for the violation under Article 53-1 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.

The offender will now have to pay a fine of UAH 170. In addition, he will have to pay compensation for damages caused by the use of the land in the amount of UAH 11.5 thousand.

During the inspection of the territory, the inspectors also discovered the fact that the forest was littered with polyethylene, agrofibre and plant residues covering an area of 76 square meters. This was the basis for imposing another fine of UAH 425. The amount of damage caused by the pollution of the ecosystem is UAH 4.5 thousand.

Environmental inspectors continue to work on identifying similar violations and urge citizens to comply with environmental legislation.

Recently, a scandal erupted in Mykolaiv over the massive tree trimming carried out by employees of Mykolaivoblenergo. This was done because the branches were in the way of electric wires. In response to the request, the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southwestern District reported that it had already inspected the site of the incident and sent an official request to Mykolaivoblenergo, which carried out the work.

In addition, work is underway in Mykolaiv to eliminate the consequences of an enemy attack that caused a leak of vegetable oil into the Southern Bug River. According to preliminary estimates by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the damage caused by this incident amounts to UAH 45 billion. At the same time, according to the ministry, no deaths of aquatic bioresources or domestic animals were recorded.
