The IAEA General Conference approved a resolution to immediately return Zaporizhzhya NPP to full control of Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

During the 67th session of the IAEA General Conference, 69 countries supported the resolution on nuclear safety in Ukraine. The resolution was proposed by Canada, Finland and Costa Rica.

The resolution calls on the Russian Federation to immediately withdraw all military and other unauthorized personnel from ZNPP and return the plant to full control of the competent authorities of Ukraine in accordance with the existing license issued by the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine.

Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko said: "We are grateful to our partners, to each country for their vote in support of compliance with nuclear and radiation safety safeguards. Ukraine's admission to the IAEA Board of Governors and the adoption of a resolution calling for the return of our ZNPP under Ukrainian control is proof that the civilized world is with us."

Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe and is currently under occupation since the beginning of March 2022.

During an interview, Major General Dmytro Marchenko, who headed the defense of Mykolaiv region at the beginning of Russia's open aggression in Ukraine, said that "if the Russians blow up the Zaporizhzhia NPP, the world will not just watch."

Earlier, we wrote that more than three hundred million is planned to be spent on the reconstruction of the South Ukrainian NPP. These funds will be used to modernize the in-reactor control system at Unit 1 of the South Ukrainian NPP.

Also, South Ukraine NPP plans to complete the construction of the Tashlyk PSPP in the area of the nuclear power plant. The level of the Oleksandrivske Reservoir may be raised to 16.9 or 20.7 meters.
