How the electricity tariff will change in May: what consumers need to know

(PHOTO: Agustin Fernandez)

During the latest revision of electricity prices, the Ukrainian government decided to extend the current tariffs for households until October 31.

At the same time, starting from May 1, households that used electricity for space heating will be deprived of their privileges. They will pay the base price until the start of the heating season.

We will tell you what electricity tariffs apply in the southern regions, as well as to whom, when and how to transfer funds for the consumed kilowatts.

Current tariffs and payment terms with service providers

Since 2024, a single tariff for energy consumption has been in effect throughout Ukraine - UAH 4.32 per 1 kWh. If you use a two-zone meter from 23:00 to 7:00, you will be charged UAH 2.16 per kilowatt.

During the heating season, for consumers who heat their homes with electricity, 1 kWh costs UAH 2.64, provided that they consume no more than 2000 kW per month. In the warm season, until October, consumers are charged at full price.

Consumers in the southern regions pay their bills to Odesa Regional Energy Supply Company LLC, Mykolaiv Energy Supply Company LLC, or Kherson Regional Energy Supply Company LLC, depending on the region. In order to avoid debts and unclear issues during further charges, service providers recommend transferring funds for electricity by the 20th day of the month in which the payment was received.

In addition, consumers are required to submit monthly meter readings. This should be done on the last two days of the current month or the first three days of the next month. The data is received by local distribution system operators - you can submit the readings in the consumer's personal account on the website, in the official application, in messengers, or by calling the hotline. Based on the information received, bills are generated and issued electronically or sent in paper payments.

How to pay for electricity on time and without queues

Today, as in the past, electricity bills can be paid at a bank cash desk, post office or terminal. Much faster and more convenient options are using online tools, such as banking applications or universal platforms like Portmone.

To pay for electricity on Portmone, consumers need to follow a few simple steps:

To transfer funds for electricity in two clicks and pay for other utilities at the same time, register on the platform, log in to your personal account and find your bills at the address. This way, you can make payments from the comfort of your home, avoid debts and erroneous charges, and track and control your expenses without any extra effort.
