The new head of the Odesa City Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak, was introduced in Odesa. The official has already started working at the city hall.

During a meeting with the deputies, he noted that he was fully aware of the challenges facing the city and immediately outlined his priorities in his new position.

Lysak said that he would primarily focus on the city's security, social support for defenders, healthcare, education and winterization. According to him, education is of particular importance because it shapes the upbringing of the younger generation. He also emphasized that the shortcomings will be eliminated so that the flood tragedy in Odesa does not happen again.

When asked about the possible demolition of the monument to Alexander Pushkin, Lysak replied that the decision was made by the head of the OVA, Oleg Kiper, so it was "correct." At the same time, Lysak added a few words about the city's security.

"I have no plans in this direction, my plans are security," said the new head of the Odesa City Military Administration.

The day before, President Zelensky announced the creation of the Odesa City Military Administration in an evening address, after which Serhiy Lysak became the main contender for the post.

Lysak has been involved in combat operations since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, and in March 2022, he was promoted to the rank of brigadier general by presidential decree. Since February 2023, he has been the head of the Dnipro Regional Military Administration, and will be replaced by his first deputy, Vladyslav Haivanenko.

On October 14, Zelensky deprived Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov, former MP Oleh Tsarev, and dancer Serhiy Polunin of Ukrainian citizenship. After that, he formally lost his powers as mayor. At the same time, Trukhanov himself denies having Russian citizenship, calls the deprivation of his Ukrainian passport a political decision, and states that he continues to fulfill his duties and will appeal to international bodies to confirm his status.
