A corruption scheme related to mobilization evasion was exposed in Odesa. The head of one of the departments of the Odesa Regional Mental Health Center was detained on suspicion of bribery.

This was reported by the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to the investigation, the doctor organized a scheme under which citizens liable for military service could receive fictitious diagnoses that allowed them to avoid mobilization. For this, the doctor demanded bribes.

He was detained in his office while receiving USD 700 for issuing fake medical documents. The doctor has already been served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obtaining undue advantage).

The court imposed on the suspect a custody with a possibility of bail.

Law enforcement officers continue the pre-trial investigation, identifying other persons involved in this corruption scheme. The investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Odesa regional police with the operational support of the Strategic Investigations Department.

Recently, the Chief Psychiatrist of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who is the Deputy Head of the Central Military Medical Commission and decides on the fitness of military personnel for service, was detained. During the full-scale invasion, this official acquired unjustified assets worth more than USD 1 million. At the same time, the defendant did not reflect the relevant property in his declaration and registered it in the names of his wife, daughter, sons and other unauthorized persons.

Earlier, the SBU and the National Police detained two heads of departments of city hospitals and the secretary of the head of the local medical and social expert commission in Odesa.

Also in Odesa, a former representative of a civil society organization was exposed and detained on suspicion of influence peddling.
