The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated an additional UAH 3 billion from the state budget reserve fund to repair national highways, including the Kyiv-Odesa highway.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development, this highway is at the top of the list of those where the most extensive repairs are planned.

Thus, it is planned to repair 10,521.4 square meters of the Kyiv-Odesa highway. They also plan to repair the Odesa-Melitopol highway (1,510 square meters) and the Odesa-Yuzhne highway (M-14) (3.7 thousand square meters).

The funds are primarily allocated to roads of international and national importance - key logistics routes, high-traffic routes, and roads that play an important role in evacuating and supplying the frontline regions.

The next stage is the transition to large-scale map repairs, which will ensure a more durable road surface. In February, drivers traveling on the Odesa-Kyiv highway after the snow melted began posting numerous videos and reports of the poor road conditions.

Intent decided to ask the Odesa Oblast State Service for Restoration and Development for a comment on the condition of the highway and plans for its repair. They acknowledged that the road had suffered significant damage during the winter due to low temperatures, which contribute to asphalt damage and heavy vehicles, but noted that the last major repair of the road was done more than 15 years ago, so the pavement has withstood all possible expiration dates.

In December 2021, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) announced its readiness to provide the State Road Agency of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) with a tranche of €190 million to repair and improve the technical condition of sections of the M-05 Kyiv-Odesa highway.
