Four Dar'yivka Residents Face Court Over ₴900K Illegal Fishing Case

Indictments have been sent to court against four residents of the Dar'yivka community who are accused of illegal fishing in the Ingulets River.

According to the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, the investigation shows that in November and December 2024, they caught a significant amount of aquatic bioresources, causing environmental damage of over UAH 900,000.

The prosecutor's office sees their actions as a criminal offense under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 249 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The State Ecological Inspectorate filed civil lawsuits for damages.

The court seized the defendants' property, including fishing gear and a boat. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Kherson police investigation sector.

Earlier, Intent wrote that in the Kherson region, water police prevented damage to the state in the amount of more than 550 thousand hryvnias. The amount of damage caused to the state by other poachers is 444888 UAH.

During preventive measures on Lake Bile, law enforcement officers found 31 crayfish nets with a total length of 254 meters and four nets with a total length of 200 meters in the water. The illegal fishing gear contained more than 300 crayfish and fish - crucian carp and perch. The police released the aquatic living bioresources into the natural environment, thus preventing damage to the state in the amount of 557040 UAH.

It is noted that the illegal fishing gear was seized and handed over to the investigative team. Currently, the persons involved in poaching are being identified and the issue of bringing them to justice is being resolved.

Earlier it was reported that in the Kherson region, water police prevented damage to the state in the amount of more than UAH 840 thousand.

It was also reported that two residents of the Stanislavska community will be tried in Kherson region for illegal fishing worth almost UAH 5 million.
