Under the procedural supervision of prosecutors of the Odesa Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region, an indictment was sent to court against the former commander of the Pryluky missile boat of the Ukrainian Navy for high treason and desertion.

According to the Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region, in May 2014, during the temporary occupation of the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol by the Russian Federation, the 2nd rank captain, having betrayed his military oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people, refused to bring the Pryluky missile boat to the mainland territory of Ukraine and to perform military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Later, he signed a contract for military service in the Russian Armed Forces as the commander of the small missile boat Project 21631 Vyshny Volochok.

Bilous remained in Crimea, voluntarily defected to the enemy and took a Russian passport. Denis Podobedov, a former Crimean soldier who betrayed his oath and went over to the enemy, and who has since led Russian air defense in the occupied peninsula and actively participated in Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for desertion and treason.
