The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained in Odesa a former military officer who is suspected of cooperating with Russia's Main Intelligence Directorate after her dismissal from the service.

According to the SBU press service, in exchange for money from the occupiers, the woman passed them the coordinates of the basing of maritime security units, border guards and the National Guard in the port city.

However, the investigation revealed that the agent never received the promised money from the Russian Federation. SBU investigators served both suspects a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).

The woman is currently in custody without the right to be released on bail. She faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Also in Kyiv, a 31-year-old resident of the temporarily occupied Melitopol was detained, who, according to the SBU, was sent by a Russian group to spy in the Ukrainian capital. According to the instructions of Russian military intelligence, the agent was to identify and pass on to the occupiers the locations of repair bases for military equipment of the Defense Forces. Additionally, the offender tracked the time intervals of the largest concentration of people near the recruiting centers of Kyiv region, which the enemy planned to strike from the air.

Earlier, the court found the Izmail resident guilty of treason and sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. He passed the coordinates of military facilities to Russia and received money for it. In November 2024, he began to cooperate with representatives of the Russian special services via messengers, agreeing to provide information on the location of military units, training grounds, locations of equipment and personnel movements. For his services, he received more than 6,000 hryvnias on his bank card.
