Former head of prosecutor's office becomes deputy head of Odesa regional state administration

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the appointment of Oleksiy Khimchenko, who headed the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office in 2023-2025, to the position of Deputy Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration.

This was announced by the government's representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk.

According to media reports, Khimchenko was born on September 4, 1985 and graduated from the Odesa National Law Academy in 2007. He began his career in the prosecutor's office the same year as an investigator at the Prosecutor's Office of the Prymorskyi District of Odesa.

Over the following years, he worked as an assistant and deputy prosecutor of the Prymorskyi District Prosecutor's Office of Odesa, head of Odesa Local Prosecutor's Office No. 3, prosecutor of Local Prosecutor's Office No. 2, headed Kyiv Local Prosecutor 's Office No. 7 and Shevchenkivskyi District Prosecutor 's Office of Kyiv, and served as deputy head of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office. Since September 28, 2021, he has been the First Deputy Head of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.

In addition, the government approved the appointment of Oleksiy Mykhailov as Deputy Head of the State Regulatory Service of Ukraine and the appointment of Andriy Belyaev as Head of the Shostka District Administration of Sumy Region.

At the same time, the Cabinet of Ministers dismissed several officials, including First Deputy State Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers Oleksandr Yarema, Deputy Minister of National Unity Ilona Havronska, and Deputy Head of the State Service for Transport Safety Yevhen Zborovsky.

In 2023, the Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa found Odesa resident Volodymyr Dimitrov guilty of inflicting moderate bodily harm on Deputy Prosecutor of Odesa Region Oleksii Khymchenko and sentenced him to two years' probation.

The incident occurred on May 20, 2022: during a conflict, the driver of a BMW hit the prosecutor several times in the head and face with his fists, after which the prosecutor fell down and the attacker additionally hit him with his knee and fist. Finally, on September 27, Volodymyr Dimitrov and Oleksiy Khimchenko reached an agreement on reconciliation, which was approved by the court.
