In the Mykolaiv region, a court handed down a sentence to the former head of a temporary detention center. She had posted content on TikTok justifying and denying Russian aggression against Ukraine.
According to the verdict of the Bratsk District Court, the head of the temporary detention center No. 2 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Mykolaiv Oblast began posting videos on her TikTok account in June 2025 that justified, claimed the legitimacy of, and denied Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.
In particular, Russia’s aggression was portrayed as an internal civil conflict, and the temporary occupation of part of Ukrainian territory was justified or denied.
According to the investigation, she made her first such repost on June 18, 2025. She subsequently disseminated Russian propaganda in July, October, and November. All posts were accessible to an unlimited number of TikTok users.
In August 2026, a plea agreement was reached between the prosecutor and the defendant, with her defense attorney present. During the trial, the woman fully admitted her guilt and stated that she sincerely repented. She also reported that, in accordance with the terms of the agreement, she had made a charitable donation to a military unit’s account.
The judge approved the agreement and sentenced her to five years in prison without confiscation of property. At the same time, the judge suspended her sentence for a three-year probationary period. During this period, she must periodically report to the probation office, notify authorities of any change in her place of residence, employment, or education, and refrain from leaving Ukraine. Additionally, she was ordered to pay 35,656 hryvnias to cover the costs of the forensic examination.
A pensioner from the Mykolaiv region was also found guilty of disseminating materials that justified Russian aggression, glorified the Russian Federation’s army, and denied the occupation of Ukrainian territories.
