Foreign trade volumes in Mykolaiv region decreased

In Mykolaiv region, export and import revenues decreased year-on-year. The main profit came from grain trade.

This is evidenced by the data of the Main Department of Statistics in Mykolaiv region.

In the first nine months of 2024, business entities in the Mykolaiv region exported goods worth USD 663.2 million, which is 9.5% less than in the same period of 2023.

Imports of goods amounted to USD 355.4 million, down 15.2%. Thus, the foreign trade surplus amounted to USD 307.8 million, as exports exceeded imports by 1.9 times.

Ukraine exported goods to 83 countries, including Spain, Egypt, the Netherlands, Turkey, Thailand, and South Korea. The main export items included cereals (55.8%), seeds and fruits of oilseeds (16.2%), fats and oils of animal or vegetable origin (12.8%), and prepared foods (7.8%).

Imports of goods to the region came from 90 countries, including China, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Poland and Ireland. The basis of the import structure was made up of machinery, equipment and electrical equipment - 29.9%, vehicles - 16.1%, chemical products - 12.1%, finished food products - 11.8% and polymeric materials - 10.8%.

In eight months, Mykolaiv region has earned more than half a billion dollars from exports. In January-August 2024, exports of goods amounted to $590.1 million. This is 89.3% of the figure for the same period in 2023.

Exports of seeds and fruits of oilseeds brought in the most - USD 86.5 million. Trade in cereals brought in 333.3 million USD, fats and oils of animal or vegetable origin - 75.9 million USD.

Turkey also doubled its imports of Ukrainian iron ore in the first nine months of the year. In the first nine months of this year, the country's metallurgical companies significantly increased their imports of iron ore from Ukraine to 1.01 million tons, which is twice as much as in the same period in 2023 (499.17 thousand tons).

In general, iron ore imports to Turkey increased by 26.1% to 8.14 million tons in nine months, while spending on it increased by 26.7% to reach USD 1.02 billion.

In addition, in October, Ukraine's exports reached their highest level in 2024. During this month, Ukraine exported goods worth more than $3.8 billion, which is 18.7% more than in September.
