The fifth summit of the Crimean Platform, scheduled for September 24 at the UN headquarters in New York, will be attended by 50 countries and international organizations.

This was reported by the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the ARC Olga Kuryshko on the air of the Ukrainian national telethon.

The exact list of participants is not yet available, but it is expected that new countries that have not previously participated in the platform will join the summit. Kuryshko also noted that holding the summit in New York, rather than in Ukraine, creates safer conditions for international delegations.

The key emphasis of the event will be "affirming the common values of freedom, sovereignty and international law. The Mission of the President of Ukraine emphasizes that Crimea is not only an integral part of Ukraine, but also a "shield of global security" on which the stability of the civilized world depends.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Russia's attempts to prevent the summit are part of Moscow's systemic policy of leveling international attention to the issue of de-occupation of Crimea.

Ukraine invites all peace-loving UN member states to join the summit to defend the UN Charter and contribute to the establishment of a just and lasting peace. According to Andriy Sybiga, the summit will also reaffirm the UN General Assembly's firm position on the observance of the Charter in the context of Russia's aggression and attempted annexation of Ukrainian territory. Since 2014, the Assembly has adopted more than twenty resolutions recognizing that Crimea is part of Ukraine.

The previous summit of the Crimean Platform took place on September 11, 2024 in Kyiv. The heads of the US and British foreign ministries, the president of Lithuania, the prime ministers of Latvia and Croatia, and other high-ranking officials attended the meeting . Leaders of other states and international institutions recorded video messages.
