On February 7, the Gallery in the Library art space of the Mykolaiv Regional Universal Scientific Library opened an exhibition by Liudmyla Makarova entitled Patchwork as a Lifestyle.

This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Universal Scientific Library.

At the event, the artist's colleague, artist Olena Markitan, spoke about her career and teaching activities. The library specialists shared the history of patchwork in the world, particularly in Ukraine, and demonstrated illustrations of ancient examples of this art created by Chinese, Japanese and English masters.

Patchwork is a unique patchwork technique that was revived in the late 20th century and is now widespread all over the world. Products created in this style add coziness and a special atmosphere to any interior.

Lyudmyla Makarova's works aroused admiration and aesthetic pleasure among visitors. Some of them were even inspired to try their hand at this art form.

The exhibition will last until February 20, so everyone is welcome to visit the regional scientific library.

Since the beginning of the war, Mykolaiv' s cultural heritage has suffered serious damage due to shelling. The MY ART team has become a savior for local museums, restoring their integrity and preservation in the most difficult times.

On the eve of 2025, the museum's collection was replenished with 10 unique panels created by the Honored Master of Folk Art of Ukraine Tetiana Bazylevska-Bartashevych. These works are a continuation of the artist's long-term cooperation with the museum, which already has more than 20 of her works on display.

Recently, the museum received an unusual gift - a rare old chimney that used to decorate the family house in the village of Ivanovo, Kirovohrad region.
