Odesa police notified a technical supervision engineer of suspicion of negligence during the repair of a shelter in a preschool, which led to unnecessary expenses from the city budget of more than UAH 300,000.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Department of the National Police in Odesa Oblast.

According to the investigation, the certified entrepreneur, having concluded a contract with a municipal enterprise of the territorial community of Odesa in 2023, undertook to carry out technical supervision of the contractor's work related to the overhaul of the protective structure in the nursery school located in the city center. However, the engineer failed to properly verify the compliance of the scope and quality of construction and installation work performed by the contractor, the materials and products used, and approved and certified the acceptance certificates for the construction work performed with his own signature.

Investigators insist that these acts contained information about the performance of work that was not actually completed in full and did not correspond to the scope and cost of work determined by the design estimates and primary reporting documentation in terms of the actual list and volume of materials by job title. The improper performance of official duties by the technical supervision engineer became the basis for the excessive transfer of budget funds to the account of the construction company, which caused the community to suffer losses in the amount of almost UAH 327 thousand.

The police claim to have collected sufficient evidence of the engineer's illegal actions, including the conclusions of construction and technical and commodity expertise. If found guilty, the man faces a fine of two thousand to four thousand tax-free minimum incomes, or correctional labor for up to two years, or restraint of liberty for up to three years, with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.
