Two "DPR" militants will be tried in court for abusing a civilian in Kherson region.

According to the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, the case against two militants of the 109th regiment of the so-called "Donetsk People's Republic" (DPR), who are accused of treason, participation in illegal armed groups and cruel treatment of civilians, has been brought to court.

According to the investigation, the accused are residents of Donetsk region, aged 34 and 42. In 2022, they acted on the territory of the Kalynivka community of the Beryslav district of Kherson region together with the Russian military. In September of the same year, the militants, together with the Russians, severely beat a local resident until he lost consciousness, and the next day came to his home, searched him with weapons, and imprisoned him for three weeks. The man was kept in terrible conditions without food, light, or hygiene.

Law enforcement officers gathered evidence, in particular through the testimony of a captured "DNR" militant who has already received 13 years in prison for collaborating with the enemy.

The prosecutor's office added that the investigation was conducted by the SBU and border guards.

Meanwhile, law enforcement officers identified another "dnr" militant who, together with an accomplice, abused and raped a resident of the Kalynivka village territorial community under the threat of execution and amputation. The man in question is a 48-year-old resident of Debaltseve, Donetsk region, who was previously convicted of serious crimes and was "serving" in the "109th Rifle Regiment, 1st Army Corps of the DPR" with the rank of "private".

Investigators charged the "DPR fighter" with inhuman treatment of a civilian, causing physical pain and mental suffering, and sexual violence. Therefore, he was notified in absentia of suspicion of violations of the laws and customs of war committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy.
