Dmytro Samofalov Appointed Acting Head of Ukraine's Defense Healthcare Department

Dmytro Samofalov, a resident of Odesa, has been appointed acting head of the Healthcare Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The information about the official appointment of Dmytro Samofalov was confirmed to LB.ua by the Ministry of Defense.

On March 5, 2025, the former head of the department, Oksana Sukhorukova, announced her resignation. On January 17, Sukhorukova and her colleagues reported obstruction in their work and accused Deputy Defense Minister Serhiy Melnyk, who took office in October 2024, of this. Since then, the work of the department has allegedly been slowed down and the team has been put under pressure. Later, there was talk of another head.

Dmytro Samofalov was the deputy head of the National Health Service, and before this appointment, Dmytro Samofalov was the director of the Southern Department of the NHSU. Before that, he was the deputy director of the Odesa Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine officially appointed Arsen Zhumadilov, a Crimean resident, as the director of the Defense Procurement Agency.

Also, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed a new Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Andriy Hnatov, who had previously served as Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The new appointment was made "in order to improve the quality of troop management." Andriy Hnatov was the Chief of Staff - Deputy Commander of the troops of the Operational Command "South". In 2016-2018, he served as Chief of Staff of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade, and later as Commander of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade.

Also, the President of Ukraine appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom Valeriy Zaluzhnyi as Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
