For exactly $2000,000, the suspected official promised the conscript a "safe" service in the rear, and guaranteed to influence certain people on whom this process would depend.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Department of the National Police in Odesa region.

Investigators found that the citizen wanted to join the ranks of the Armed Forces to serve in a certain unit. However, the head of one of the support units demanded a bribe of two thousand US dollars.

At the same time, he said that if the man mobilized on his own, without his assistance, he would not have guarantees of service in the rear unit.

After the bribe was handed over, law enforcement officers detained him in accordance with the procedural procedure and seized the money.

The detainee was served a notice of suspicion of obtaining an unlawful benefit for influencing the decision-making of a person authorized to perform state functions, combined with extortion of such benefit. The sanction of Part 3 of Art. 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine provides for imprisonment for up to eight years with confiscation of property.

Instead of money, the defendant was released on bail in the amount of UAH 1.8 million.

We also recently wrote about how the head of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Water Management Department confessed to corruption.

Also, in December 2024, a serviceman of the Podilskyi RTC and JV repeatedly made changes to the registration cards of citizens liable for military service in the Unified State Register of Conscripts, Persons Liable for Military Service and Reservists "Oberih".
