Crimean political prisoner Tofik Abdulgaziyev, who is being held in a Russian prison hospital, is in critical condition due to a severe form of tuberculosis.

According to the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, his wife Aliye finally received the test results and the diagnosis after four months of waiting.

"Today Tofik's full diagnosis is as follows: Disseminated pulmonary tuberculosis with involvement of the intrathoracic lymph nodes (ITNs) in the phase of resorption and compaction. In other words, Tofik developed lymph node tuberculosis. And this is in addition to pulmonary tuberculosis," the political prisoner's wife noted.

According to the doctor, whom Aliya visited, Tofik's lymph nodes became inflamed against the background of pulmonary tuberculosis and began to rot, which indicates an extremely severe stage of the disease. Despite this, Russian prison doctors refuse to recognize him as unfit to serve his sentence.

"The doctors are powerless against his diagnosis. They all unanimously say that he must be released, but the "justice" decided otherwise - they recognized him healthy and fit to serve his sentence in harsh conditions," Aliye emphasized.

The wife of the Crimean political prisoner is deeply concerned about his condition. The woman continues to worry about his fate, as the conditions of detention remain dangerous and can be fatal.

Tofik Abdulgaziyev was detained in the occupied Crimea on March 27, 2019. He was accused of participating in theHizb ut-Tahrir organization, and on May 12, 2022, in Rostov-on-Don, the Southern District Military Court sentenced Abdulgaziyev to 12 years in a maximum security prison, including the first 5 years in prison and a year of restriction of liberty after release.

During all this time, due to inadequate conditions of detention in places of detention, systematic ignoring of complaints about his health, and inadequate and untimely medical care, Tofik Abdulgaziyev's health condition deteriorated significantly. Thus, he was diagnosed with tuberculosis and bilateral pneumonia, and lost almost 40 kilograms.
