The court found the Crimean resident guilty of collaboration and sentenced him to a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison with confiscation of property. The convict was also banned from working in government agencies for 15 years.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

As the investigation established, since 2014, the man had been working for the occupation authorities of Crimea, holding the position of "head of the Property Fund of the Republic". After the full-scale invasion of Russia, he came to Kherson region, where he became the so-called "acting Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the region."

In his new position, he ran the pseudo-ministry, appointed employees and paid them salaries in Russian rubles.

In the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region, the Russian invaders announced their intention to conduct a "record" sowing campaign, planning to sow about a million hectares.

In particular, such plans were announced by collaborator Yuriy Kovalev, who holds the position of the so-called head of the Committee on Agricultural Policy in the occupation administration.

The court sentenced two collaborators from the Kherson region to 15 years in prison for working for the Russians.

Recently, law enforcement officers served suspicion notices to two residents of Kherson who worked for the enemy in a "police station" during the occupation of the city. They are a 37-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man suspected of voluntarily taking up positions in the illegally created "Suvorov City Police" that operated under the control of the invaders.

The court also sentenced a former police major from Kherson region who voluntarily defected to the occupiers. He was found guilty of committing serious criminal offenses, including treason and collaboration. The accused is a native of Illinka village, Kakhovka district, Kherson region, a resident of Fedorivka village, Dariivka community.
