Detectives of the Main Detective Unit of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine have served a notice of suspicion of tax evasion in a significant amount to an accountant of a company.

According to the BES press service, the company specializes in construction.

Investigators insisted that the company's officials were well aware of the amount of property rights sold and funds received under contracts for the transfer of apartments to individuals, but did not register tax invoices in the relevant Register.

Thus, the company's accountant did not reflect and declare the actual information on the funds received in the VAT returns.

This resulted in understatement of taxes paid by the construction company and a shortfall of over UAH 7 million to the state budget.

In the course of the pre-trial investigation, the BES detectives ensured that the company reimbursed the state losses in full.

The company's accountant was served a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offense stipulated by Part 1 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (tax evasion in large amounts) and a motion for release from criminal liability in connection with the compensation of the damage caused under Part 4 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine was sent to the court.

Earlier, the prosecutor's office suspended a tender for the reconstruction of the administrative building of the Dalnytsia village council in Odesa district worth almost UAH 24 million. The contract for UAH 24 million was terminated due to violations of the procedure. Earlier, Intent reported that analysts of the BES regional office in Odesa region also found risks in this tender.

In March, the BES reported that an agricultural enterprise in Dnipropetrovs'k region exported products through the ports of Odesa region and did not pay taxes. As a result of these actions, the state lost UAH 15 million.
