Complaints about illegally dumped trash topped the list of complaints in the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions

<span><span><span><span><span><span>In the first half of 2026, most residents of the Mykolaiv and Odesa regions filed complaints with the environmental inspectorate regarding unauthorized landfills. A total of 351 such complaints were received.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>This was reported by the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southwestern District.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>Another 127 complaints concerned damage to green spaces and forests, 23 concerned air pollution, and 9 concerned industrial activities. The remaining 259 complaints covered various issues related to environmental protection.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>748 complaints were submitted by individuals. There were 21 collective complaints, signed by 528 citizens.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>In total, the inspectorate received 769 complaints over the course of six months. Of these, experts ruled in favor of the complainants in 224 cases. For 458 complaints, the complainants were provided with explanations; 6 were forwarded to the relevant agencies; and in 20 cases, the complainants’ requests were denied.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

Previously,<span><span><span><span><span><span> E. coli was detected in the water </span></span></span></span></span></span><span><span><span><span><span><span>at three beaches in Mykolaiv. Specifically, the water did not meet standards at the “Stril </span></span></span></span></span></span><span><span><span><span><span><span>ka” beach on the </span></span></span></span></span></span>Ingul River and the “Chaika” beach on the Bug Estuary, as well as in the “Namiv” recreational area on the Bug Estuary.

<span><span><span><span><span><span>At the same time, no Vibrio cholerae was detected in any of the samples.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

The Mykolaiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention advises that when choosing a place to relax near the water, people should pay attention to areas officially designated for swimming, observe warning signs, and follow the rules for safe recreation in the water.
