Yaroslava Vitko-Prysyazhnyuk, the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language in the South of Ukraine, has become a member of the Odesa Regional Council in the European Solidarity faction.

This became known during a session of the regional council on June 6. The head of the Odesa Regional Territorial Election Commission, Inna Pronevych , introduced their colleague, Yaroslava Vitko-Prysyazhnyuk, a member of the European Solidarity faction, to the deputies.

In March 2025, Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov ordered the creation of a coordinating council for the establishment of Ukrainian national and civic identity. Yaroslava Vitko-Prysyazhnyuk was among the 20 officials who joined the council, and Serhiy Hutsalyuk, head of the Southern Interregional Department of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, was also a member.

In August 2022, Taras Kremin, the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language, introduced his newly appointed representative in the South, Yaroslava Vitko. He said that Yaroslava Vitko won the competition in early February and became the curator of the South of Ukraine - Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.

Yaroslava Vitko-Prysyazhnyuk replaced MP Mykola Derevianko, who is currently suspected of organizing a group on charges of falsifying documents and using them, fraudulent acquisition of state property, forgery, and legalization of the proceedings of crime. In July 2023, the SBU detained the MP.

Four participants in the scheme were then notified of suspicion, and the organizer, a former MP, was sent to a pre-trial detention center. The offenders face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property. Earlier, the Security Service reported that it had documented corruption crimes by a deputy of the Odesa Regional Council and his wife, who stole more than UAH 24 million from repairs to social infrastructure facilities.
