Command of the Russian Black Sea Fleet is suspected of shelling the center of Odesa

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has served three representatives of the Russian Black Sea Fleet Command with a notice of suspicion of violating the laws and customs of war, namely the shelling of the center of Odesa.

According to the Prosecutor General's Office, these are Admiral Viktor Sokolov, Commander of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy, Vice Admiral Arkady Romanov, First Deputy Commander of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy, and Colonel Oleksiy Shcherbak, Commander of the 15th Separate Coastal Missile Brigade of the Fleet.

These Russian servicemen are suspected of directly directing the missile attacks on Odesa on July 23, 2023.

Then, during a missile attack at night, the enemy hit Odesa region with at least five types of missiles of all types of basing: "Kalibr, Onyx, X-22, and Iskander-K, and also used ballistic Iskander-M missiles.

The missiles that the air defense failed to shoot down caused damage to the port infrastructure and at least six residential buildings, including apartment buildings.

Dozens of cars were vandalized, facades and roofs were damaged, and windows were smashed in many buildings in the city.

In addition, a Russian missile hit the Transfiguration Cathedral in Odesa's Soborna Square, which currently belongs to a branch of the Russian Orthodox Church, better known as the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate). Two architectural monuments were damaged.

A total of 40 buildings were damaged by the strike. Among the affected buildings are 25 architectural monuments.

The mayor's office also reported that 22 people, including three children, were injured in the strike. All of them were treated in medical institutions of the city.
