The Kherson City Court sentenced the former chief accountant of the Northern Correctional Colony No. 90 to 15 years in prison in absentia for high treason. The court also ruled to confiscate all her property.

This was reported by the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation in Melitopol.

The investigation found that the woman had worked in a Ukrainian penitentiary institution before the full-scale invasion. After the capture of Kherson by Russian troops, she, according to law enforcement, voluntarily went over to the side of the occupation authorities.

Later, she headed the accounting service of the so-called "Penitentiary Service", which the invaders created on the basis of the captured penitentiary institutions in the region.

In this position, the convict ensured the financial activities of the occupation structure, coordinated the work of accounting departments and organized the transfer of payments from hryvnia to Russian rubles.

The SBI notes that before the liberation of Kherson, the woman left the city with the Russian military and is now in the temporarily occupied territory.

The court found her guilty of treason committed under martial law. She was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Earlier, the court sentenced former Kherson MP Serhiy Zmiievsky, who distributed rubles during the occupation and called for the "Russian world." The court found the man guilty of collaboration and sentenced him in absentia to 10 years in prison with confiscation of all his property. His car was seized to secure the confiscation of his property.

Also in Odesa, the court sentenced a former employee of the Kherson SIZO who voluntarily joined the Russian penitentiary system during the occupation. The man admitted that he worked for the occupiers for money and family support.
