Investigators have forwarded to court a case of illegal seizure of a company car of the territorial center for staffing and social policy and the driver's personal documents.

According to the press service of the Main Department of the National Police in Odesa Oblast, if found guilty, the man faces up to five years in prison.

The man was detained in late August after the incident occurred in early August. According to the investigation, the 43-year-old got into a company car and, despite the driver standing next to him, who was supposed to take the passenger to the medical examination center, suddenly jumped into the front seat and drove away.

At the time, eyewitnesses also claimed that there were three other mobilized soldiers in the car, but the police have not yet confirmed this information. He left the car on the outskirts of the village and went home, taking the driver's bag with important personal documents from the car.

Officers of the territorial police unit tracked down the offender and seized his belongings. The man confessed that he had not prepared for the crime but had committed it spontaneously. He was placed under house arrest, and if the court finds him guilty of carjacking, he faces restriction of liberty for a term of three to five years or imprisonment for the same term, while the law punishes the theft of documents with a fine of up to fifty tax-free minimum incomes or probationary supervision for up to three years or restriction of liberty for the same term.

Earlier, prosecutors of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office also sent to court an indictment against a local resident accused of organizing an explosion at the police station in Bilyayivka.
