Case of another contractor under medical tender in Odesa sent to court

The Peresypskyi District Prosecutor's Office of Odesa has sent to court an indictment against the director of the company, who is charged with falsifying documents and misappropriating budget funds in especially large amounts.

According to the press service of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office, the case concerns an agreement concluded in 2020 between the Odesa Regional Hospital and a contractor. The company was supposed to overhaul the hospital's emergency department.

According to the investigation, the director of the company that made the repairs overstated the amount of work actually performed. As a result, the businessman misappropriated UAH 800 thousand of budget funds.

The Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in Odesa Oblast clarified that the agreement provided for repairs worth more than UAH 10 million. But the contractor did not fulfill the terms of the contract in full. He drew up and signed official documents in which he deliberately entered deliberately false information about the amount of work actually performed, thereby overstating their cost by a total of almost UAH 830 thousand.

The 74-year-old suspect was charged with misappropriation of property by abuse of office and forgery. If found guilty, the man faces a total of up to twelve years in prison with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years and confiscation of property.

Earlier, investigators sent to court an indictment against the director of a contractor that repaired the roof of the Odesa Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine in 2022. As director of the company in November-December 2022, the man personally drafted and signed official documents in which he entered data with inflated costs of construction and installation work and materials used.
